How Long It Takes to Reschedule Wedding Vendors
Vendor Booking Timelines and Tips
If your wedding has been cancelled due to COVID-19 or maybe you’ve just gotten engaged, you’ll need to plan ahead when re-reserving or reserving wedding vendors and venues. This article touches upon the main types of vendors brides and grooms use and the time needed to reserve each.
Normally, the best time to schedule vendors is during the slow months of December through February because it’s the usual downtime for wedding vendors. However, considering the fact that everyone is under stay-at-home orders in most states, getting in touch with a wedding vendor shouldn’t be too difficult.
If you’re rescheduling with a vendor, make sure you mention that in your voicemail and email to them. You’ll want to ask for an addendum to the current contract with a new date listed or you’ll want a new contract drawn up for the new wedding date. As wedding vendors tend to fill up quickly, take to the phones quickly to ensure that you land your top choices for your new wedding date.
Different Turnaround Times Among Vendors
Keep in mind that some vendors may take longer to book than others. For example, a caterer may take longer because you’ll need to meet with them and schedule tasting with them and other rival caterers to determine which one suits best for your wedding and taste. There may be downtime from initial consult to quote to tasting to proposal to contract signing. Travel to these appointments may take time as well, especially if you’re planning a wedding out of town.
Some wedding planners estimate that it could take from two to six months to book some vendors such as caterer, photographer, florist, wedding planner, and venue. Quotes and proposals sometimes take longer than most would expect, especially during this difficult time when companies are reeling from financial loss due to mass cancellations.
