5 Ways to Keep Your Guests Happy at an Office Party
Planning for office fun
Now that you’ve planned and organized your office party, the fun begins. So, how do you make your guests feel at home and comfortable? This blog will give you ideas and tips about how to keep your party guests happy at your office gathering or any party for that matter.
Never let them see you sweat
Throwing an office party can be stressful and exhausting. However, don’t let your party goers see you stressed out and miserable. Try a few breathing exercises and remember if mishaps occur, it’s not the end of the world. If you’re miserable, try to hide it. Nobody wants to attend a pity party.
Don’t cheap out on the food and booze
Okay, the budget is tight, but that doesn’t mean you need to open up cans of SPAM and saltine crackers. Make sure you have more than enough portions for guests. If you’re going to have hourdevers only, then let people know that in the invitation or email before the party, so they won’t expect a meal. They’ll be able to plan ahead by eating lunch before the party. If you don’t have enough food and drinks, guests will leave early and the party will not be a success.
Alcoholic beverages can be expensive, but a party without them isn’t much of a party. You can always let people know ahead of time that it’s okay to bring beer or other drinks (BYOB). Mix up cocktails in pitchers before the party and it will save time and frustration.
Keep a cozy temperature
Most office spaces at either end of extreme temperatures. You’ve probably had a co-worker who is always adjusting the thermostat and then everyone ends up freezing throughout the afternoon, or vice versa. On the day of the party, in the morning, make sure the thermostat is set at a comfortable temperature that everyone can agree upon. Keep in mind that if you’re serving hot foods that will add warmth to the room temperature.
Make the trash can and recycling bin available
Have you ever attended a party and wondered where the trash can or recycling bin are? Most of the time when guests cannot find the trash receptacle, they end up abandoning used plates of food and half-filled Solo cups on tables and other pieces of furniture, or worse in a corner of the carpet or window sill. This complicates clean up and leads to spills. Make the trash can and recycling visible but not the centerpiece.
Ensure there are enough chairs and table space
One way to make guests feel uncomfortable is to make them balance plates of food in their hands while they attempt to socialize with other guests. If you don’t have a chair to sit in, how will you be able to eat? And if you don’t have enough table space, how will you set both plate and drink down to talk to guests? It’s a mess waiting to happen, so you can prevent all of this by borrowing tables and chairs from other departments in your building or renting party chairs and tables. If you really want to make guests comfortable, renting a party tent, chairs, and tables will make the package complete and ensure that everyone is happy including the host.
If you plan to take the party outdoors, renting a tent will allow your guests to feel more cozy if it’s a cool day or night. A tent also comes in handy should a rain shower begin.
