Celebrating During the Coronavirus
Are weddings a thing of the past? While extravagant nuptials are taking a back seat, people will continue to find each other, say their vows in front of friends and family, and celebrate their dedication of love into the wee hours of the morning. With the coronavirus present and accounted for, that just means the celebration may look slightly different.
Close Friends and Family
How people marry is constantly changing and evolving as we develop as a society and circumstances change. Over the past few months, there has been a larger focus on staying healthy and safe during a wedding ceremony and reception. The current wedding trend and predictions have the 2021 wedding season pointing towards mini-ceremonies, micro-weddings, and elopements.
With social distancing requirements and safety precautions in place, many couples are leaning towards a much more intimate wedding feel. Want to learn more about micro-weddings and elopement ceremonies? Take a look at the following articles
Virtual “I Do’s”
Whether it is Zoom, Facebook Live, or Google Chat, live-streaming your wedding day is here to stay. Most states allow officiants to perform virtual, legally binding wedding ceremonies. Many couples are choosing to hold a virtual wedding and save the partying for a later date. This is a great way for couples to pick a wedding date and then plan a much more elaborate celebration when things calm down with the coronavirus.
Multiple Celebrations
Another 2021 prediction is that many couples will choose to celebrate their union on more than one day. By having multiple wedding celebrations, couples can interact with different sets of friends/family while also being safe and conscientious of health regulations. The multiple celebration wedding format is often referred to as a “sequel wedding.” Oftentimes, a sequel wedding will start with a more intimate first wedding (think micro-wedding or elopement), and then the couple has a second or third-celebration with different groups of people.
Big Bashes Are Not Gone Forever
Big wedding celebrations are not a thing of the past; they are just merely being put on hold until things get back to “normal.” Eventually, weddings will get back to the business of large groups and cutting a rug on a crowded dance floor. Until then, couples need to embrace the focus on family and valued friends while making sure to keep things safe and comfortable.
